Guidelines on the Undesirable Medical Adverstisements (Amendment) Ordinance 2005 Meeting The Hong Kong Health Food Association has invited the Pharmaceutical Service, Department of Health to provide a talk on the captioned Amendment on 15 March 2006. Mrs. Mary Cheng, Senior Pharmacist has presented details of the implementation of the new amended regulation and its guidelines. Seminar on Health Food Regulation and Market Development The Hong Kong Health Food Association partnered with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to organize a seminar on the development of health food market in mainland China at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 6 January 2006. Adulterated Products Talk HKHFA has the pleasure to have invited the Pharmaceutical Service, Department of Health to conduct an educational talk on “Adulterated Products”. A number of cases have been detected lately. Department of Health had warned consumers and required total recall of the concerned products. The talk was held on 11 November 2005 at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre in the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong. ICMCM 2005 Exhibition HKHFA has set up an exhibition booth at the International Conference & Exhibition of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM) during the period 11 to 15 August 2005. Over 10,000 pieces of the HKHFA health index card and 3,000 healthy menu booklets published by Department of Health were distributed to visitors. Meeting with the Deputy Director of Health The President and several Council Members made an appointment with the Deputy Director, Dr. T.H, Leung, on 6 July 2007 expressing industry’s opinion on the requirement for pharmaceutical product registration of health supplements containing vitamin or mineral. Since most health supplements are imported from overseas where they are not classified them as pharmaceuticals, certain documents required for registration application may not be available from the manufacturers.
