14 Oct International Health Food Symposium
The Symposium held by the Hong Kong Health Food Association and the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology on 14 October 2006 was seamlessly completed. The five overseas speakers had brought some brand new research findings in cancer prevention using health food and the new trend in personalized supplementation with health food. It was discovered that individuals and different races have variable responses to particular health food ingredients due to variability of their genes. Such observations could explain why individuals have different receptivity to particular ingredients and propensity in developing particular diseases. The Opening Ceremony was honored by the presence of Dr. T.H. Leung JP, Deputy Director of Health, Department of Health and Dr. Hon Joseph K.L. Lee JP, Chairman of Panel on Health Services, the Legislative Council. Two of the Association’s Honorary Advisers, Distinguished Professor Georges Halpern and Professor M.S. Wong have also kindly joined the ribbon cutting ceremony.
