The Association meeting with Professor Sophie Chan JP

A meeting with Prof. Sophie Chan JP, Under Secretary for Food & Health, Hong Kong SAR Government on 11th Jan at Central Government Office. The meeting was very productive. Our President, Mr. Samson Tsoi has presented to her 1) the limitation of current regulations in managing health food, 2) our objectives & action in product voluntary listing & health food definition drafting specifically for Hong Kong, 3) the current status of health food control in advanced Western or Asian countries, 4) the Association’s initiative to boost further development of health food industry, and 5) a clear demand on specific guideline / regulation for health food products. Prof. Chan has expressed her appreciation of the Association’s effort in consumer education & interest in the product voluntary listing. The Food and Health Bureau will study our information and keep in touch with us for any further development.
