Integrating Food and Chinese Medicine: Exploring Science, Technology, and Holistic Approaches for Health
The Hong Kong Health Food Association is honored to attend and participate in Hong Kong’s first FoodMed 2024 conference. This conference was held on May 28 and 29, 2024, bringing together scientific researchers and industry experts from the food and traditional Chinese medicine communities, including Dr. Martino, consultant to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), former Secretary of the Codex Alimentarius Commission-International Food standards expert Mr. Hellandt, Director of FDA Office in China Dr. McMullen and Chinese government representatives, etc.
The homology of medicine and food is an important concept in traditional Chinese culture. It means that food and medicine have the same or similar effects and achieve similar effects in treating and maintaining health. The meeting discussed a number of topics, including food innovation, safety of dual-use foods, clinical applications, market trends, regulatory considerations, education, etc. During the meeting, the latest developments in various industries were shared and the future development trends of medicine and food homology in the field of health care were explored.
As a supporting organization, the association is very happy to participate in this event, not only to communicate with the traditional Chinese medicine community, but also to gain an in-depth understanding of the latest developments in the origin of medicine and food. We hope to work closely with experts and scholars in the food and traditional Chinese medicine fields in the future to jointly promote the concept of medicine and food having the same origin.
