20 Apr Government Chinese Medicine Testing Center Visit
The Association recently visited the Government Chinese Medicine Testing Center to gain an in-depth understanding of the entire process, from the harvesting of authentic local Chinese medicinal materials, the preparation of specimens, and the analysis of their components to the establishment of quality standards for Chinese medicine and the development of innovative testing methods. The Center is committed to enhancing the professional standards of the Chinese medicine and testing industries in quality control and identification, and to promoting Hong Kong’s development as an international hub for Chinese medicine testing and quality control, thereby further elevating the global influence and credibility of traditional Chinese medicine.
In addition, the Association visited a Chinese herbal garden where various medicinal plants are cultivated. This allowed members to gain a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese medicine culture and its health benefits, and to explore the development of Chinese health products based on the principle that medicinal and dietary ingredients share the same origins. Among the plants featured was Artemisia annua, the source from which Chinese scientist Tu Youyou successfully extracted artemisinin for the treatment of malaria—a scientific achievement for which she was awarded the Nobel Prize.
As a member of the health food industry, our association will continue to focus on the quality and safety of traditional Chinese medicine, actively promote high-quality health products, and foster healthy lifestyles among the public.
