The Hong Kong Institution of Science, which was established by the Faculty of Science of The University of Hong Kong in 1992.,Its main purpose is to foster the development of science in Hong Kong and to facilitate the development of links between scientific communities in mainland Greater China and overseas. The theme of the year was ﹙Recent Advances in Food Science﹚. The Association was invited to be a co-sponsor of the conference, which was held on 3 November 2007 full day in the Rayson Huang Theatre, the University of Hong Kong. The Secretary for Food & Health, Dr. York Chow, SBS, JP, delivered the opening address. The speakers are scholar from the US, mainland China and local universities. They brought to the conference new findings and new concept in food science. Some of the interesting topics included “Nano-scale Food Science”, “Pros and Cons of GM Food”, “Low Salt and Antihypertensive Functional Foods”, “Impact of Environmental Pollution on Food Supply”.
