Worry and concern began to brew among the public. To claim down the tension, the Centre for Food Safety has taken a decisive action in publishing in the Government Gazette in September 2008 to announce that Melamine would be under the control of the \u201cHarmful Substances in Food Regulations\u201d (Chapter 132 AF) effective immediately. At the same time, it also stipulated that the maximum concentration of Melamine in milk products to be 1mg per liter. All food intended for children 36 months or under; for pregnant or lactating women, the maximum concentration of Melamine shall be 1 mg per Kg of food.
