International Health Food Symposium The Symposium held by the Hong Kong Health Food Association and the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology on 14 October 2006 was seamlessly completed. The five overseas speakers had brought some brand new research findings in cancer prevention using health food and the new trend in personalized supplementation with health food. ICMCM 2006 Exhibition HKHFA has set up an exhibition booth at the ICMCM (The International Conference & Exhibition of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products) during 17 to 21 August 2006. HKHFA health index card and healthy menu booklets published by Department of Health were distributed to visitors for free. A computer game comprised of health quiz was set up for visitors to play. The correct answers were given after the game to reinforce their knowledge in protecting health. Members Only

The First Annual General Meeting and Dinner The first annual general meeting and anniversary dinner of the Association were held on 4 August 2006. Representatives from 22 member companies attended the annual general meeting while more than 40 members and industry representatives joined the banquet. Hong Kong Health Food Industry Visited Guangzhou for Trading Development A group 25 members of the health food industry embarked the express train early in the morning on 6 June 2006 to begin a 2-day trip to Guangzhou organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) and Hong Kong Health Food Association. The first stop in the afternoon at Guangzhou is visit to the Food & Drug Administration of Guangdong Province. Health Food Industry “Trade Talk” The Association was invited to co-organize with Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) the “Health Food Industry Traders Meet” on 22 May 2006. The activity includes a round table meeting joined by 36 trade association representatives from China, Hong Kong and Macau, while 60 health food colleagues were in attendance.
